Each year C.M.A. gives a grant to the James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library in Fredericksburg, VA. In response to our support, Daniel Preston of the Museum sent us the following:
James Monroe Symposium
Fredericksburg, VA (October 18-19th, 2013)
The Papers of James Monroe and the James Monroe Museum are going to sponsor a two-day symposium on James Monroe at the University of Mary Washington on Friday and Saturday, October 18-19, 2013. The symposium will be free and open to the public. There will be four one-hour presentations each day—two in the morning, two in the afternoon. Each presentation will be a stand-alone event so that people can easily attend whichever presentations they wish, and not have to sit for extended amounts of time. I have appended below a tentative schedule.
I assume that this event would be of interest to Clan Munro, and I wanted to inform the members about it. But I also thought that I would send it at an early date so that if the Clan or a part of it wanted to schedule an event of its own in Fredericksburg to coincide with the symposium, there would be time to organize. I can send additional information to whomever should have it, especially once we finalize the arrangements, which will be probably in March.
